Vegetable oil is very versatile. Use it for frying bacon and eggs or cooking meats and fish, to sautéing vegetables, or even baking quiches to whipping up cakes, muffins and desserts. It is great too for shortening (it gives pastry a crumbly texture) and is great in recipes for helping ingredients “stick together”. Vegetable Oil is always a blend of oils and the composition can differ from oil to oil (so this means the smoke point varies depending on the blend).  Such oils include soybean, sunflower, canola, peanut, safflower, cottonseed to coconut and rice bran oils.
